About the Site

Philosophy

This site provides interactive resources to help science and other content area teachers easily use the ecology, environment, history, geography, and culture of the Bay in their classroom lessons.

We know that children use media to find information, be entertained, and direct their own learning. In this online field trip, we have designed opportunities for all three goals.  We want students to feel as if they are part of the town of Bayville, learning relevant content, and making informed judgments.

This experience was also designed to help struggling readers learn content more effectively. And we have the research to show that this can happen. Check out the results of our recent study about online learning.
